I'm not calling for a revolution, but I am saying I feel the time is coming nearer that a major point in the history of this nation will be upon us. Will we triumph or will we fail?? This question undoubtedly will be answered in our lifetimes.

I can agree with you 100% on everything else but this stands out the most, because for years i have been saying this very thing and years ago people thought i was just a paranoid crazy dude. Now it is upon us, except me being negative i think we are doomed to failure. We as Americans are only involved in "our little piece" our immediate friends and family and whatnot....So when the shit does hit the fan, one man to another man will have no reservation of slitting another mans throat to gain 5 bucks. Americans have no unity, no sense of pride anymore.

I 'had' a friend of mine in the National Guard and a while back when there were a few surveys floating around asking if given the order would certain members of the armed forces fire upon American citizens. This old friend of mine said that without hesitation he would fire upon Americans without question in the matter, if those were his orders anyway. If you're asking me that right there is totally twisted and absolutely wrong. Henceforth why i use the word friend in a more past tense...

Orders are orders, whatever is necessary for the greater good.

If a plane is hijacked, fighter pilots may get orders to shoot down a plane full of innocent people. That's just the way things are.

Season 2 of this show started last Sunday. I actually came to really like the show as Season 1 went on. While I disagree with Aaron Sorkin's general attitude, I think the show is well written and well acted.

And yesterday, Detroit announced its bankruptcy which has sparked a lot of discussion and debate. It made me think of the video Will posted and the discussion in this thread.

Does Detroit just represent the canary in the goldmine for the country as a whole? Something that was once proud and shining reduced to literally a shell of its former self? Or maybe Detroit can reinvent itself and serve as a model for the rest of the country. Too soon to tell.
