Today I got invited go to a Pirelli Ride and Drive through work and hot damn it was a good time. We had a few different autocross courses that we were able to beat the shit outta these cars on. There were two brand new Porsche 911 carrera S, two brand new mustangs, a V6 limited grand cherokee and a brand new SRT grand cherokee. None of these cars had over 5000 miles on them. The porsche was just out of control. No matter how hard you pushed the thing it would grip through any corner no problem. The limited grand was fun because it was a grocery getter and actually handled not terribly. the mustang was a blast because it wanted to get its ass end loose around any turn you tried. Lots of power all the time which was pretty nice. And the icing on the cake was the SRT8 grand. Holy shit what a beast. There is something about 465 horsepower in an SUV that actually handles that is just so much fun to drive. and the engine note when you put it to the floor as the ass ends kicks out around a turn is unreal. So that was my day, I love my job sometimes. Oh and I get to do a yokohama one next week oh and by the way, that green mustang is pretty sick lookin

whats the purpose of the program?

We are a huge seller of Pirelli so they do this as a marketing scheme to get us into their tires even more. They also market new tires that they have coming out so we test drive the tires and sit in on lectures and stuff too. Like on that SRT they were introducing the new Pirelli Scorpion Verde which is their new all season/green/economical/performance suv tire. So for us its like a seminar but we get to beat the shit out of cars too.

We got to do laps in everything and on the last lap with the porsche they timed us because it was the fastest car there (eventhough the professional behind the wheel of that SRT8 has some serious testicles, holy shit what a ride), so its kindof a competition too which is fun. I got 2nd fastest out of the group missed the leader by only 3/10ths. If only I braked later in that final turn Oh well it was too much fun
