  • Interior is gone.

I'll tell yinz what, I've had plenty of water in my Jeep over the years, I've left the windows open in more rainstorms than I can count, took on water in Lake Cristy, decided to sink it in about 33" of water recently without the doors and I finally got around to tearing the seats and interior completely out of the jeep to see what the damage was.

I was literally expecting not to see a floor under the carpet and for an '89, it wasn't that bad...

The biggest hole is in the passenger rear which I thought wasn't that big but seemed to chip away further the more I hit it with an air sander.

The new carpet is here, so hopefully I'll be back to wheeling ASAPSTATUS.

I was just going to patch it and repaint it and throw the new carpet in. Should I put some plastic down on the floor before the carpet goes in?

bedlining is a retarded amount of work for not so great rust prevention

honestly for a jeep that old i would put a primer, couple coats of paint, and be done with it.

it lasted 20 years that way, bring on the next 20.

Get a couple cans of 3M rubberized undercoating and spray it. Works good.

I know im a retarded noob to the forum, but at work we use rustolium hammered finish on our trailers, iused it on my yj floor pans and rustoleium pro flat black on the frame, the hammered finish really does stop rust, like really really well

I was thinking about using some Hammered on top of the primer...

Hammered is decent paint so is VHT, duplicolor is shit!

All things considered the floor doesn really look that bad, some say the older cherokees lasted a little Longer due to better undercoating.
