In either case, the aphorism "Well than" falls into a grey area as it is a North American colloquialism and specific to modern contemporary slang. As such i went with the way I have seen it used in many forms and instances of twentieth century literature.
You must also consider that neither is a full clause, and therefore follows few rules of grammar as it should hardly exist by itself, except in dialogue, i.e. now.dirty30Comment
