i have the lp8500, but the slightly older version with the solenoid on top and it was $150 more. i haven't had the slightest problem ever and it always gets the job done. it pulled a 2500 truck outta a mudhole once. heated up good but still pulls everything my jeep needs help on.

with that said, for $480 i don't think there is much decision making here. in the end, warn is better than superwinch and for that price......same as i payed for superwinch

if you really need to save $180 though i can say you won't be disappointed with the lp8500. i feel fine because whenever i wheel i am always around other winches and if i get myself in THAT much of a jam ill pay someone to pull me, not to knock what will said because he does have a good point, it's your backup that you want to rely on.

    my 2 cents

I have a severe funding limit also, the more i spend on a wench the less i take with me to rausch, im assuming i won need it at rausch, but for the local trails we discovered this weekend some of the mudholes are deeper that usual

I love quadratec and i kno there warranty is good, but being that they are new to the recovery market its not my first choice, i kno superwinch to be an established company, and i can have a 4 year warrenty with the purchase, the superwinch with warrenty is still less than the warn though, I WANT TO MAKE SURE IM BUYING A WINCH, NOT A NAME!

im not a salesman for warn or anything, but theres a reason they have such a good name, and it isnt just because of shallow marketing, its because theyre a trusted brand with good standing

with that said, quadratec is likely rebranding a chinese (or other low end) winch like harborfreight does...quad doesnt make anything, theyre merely a reseller middleman warehouse. i created a Quadratec DVD for them, however they had literally nothing to do with its contents or creation aside from funding

go over superwinch's warranty with a fine tooth comb. 4 years does sound good

Understood about the q tec, i might not use the winch alot , but if im being a tard and am out trailing on my own i want to be able to get myself out of a bad situation, my samuari had a 2000lb atv winch, always did its job, unless i had to pull out someone else

Most people i know rarely use their winch. It's an emergency recovery device which doesn't see such heavy use on a DD/average trail rig as those on Comp Buggies or actual emergency vehicles.

You have to imagine how often will you really use it. Because most of the cheaper winches are perfectly reliable with proper maintanence and servicing. If you get 5-7 years of service out of a winch and maybe 3-6 pulls a year I'd just as soon replace it with another cheap one.

Then again, I'm poor. My winch is a chain hoist and a bunch of straps. But when I do get a winch I'll get something cheap because frankly I don't plan on using it enough to wear out major internal components.

I've used my $300 winch so many fucking times now it isn't even funny. Having a winch bolted to your vehicle is a Godsend, if you have the money, buy a good one, if you don't have a lot of money, save and fucking buy one. Worth it.

                                100% warn.

when i first got my m8000 it came with a bad motor, 3 days later i had a new one on my door step free. within the past month the gears exploded as i was pulling out a stuck forklift at work, last week i finally got a chance to take it apart and give them a call. i straight up told them i was overloading the winch (forklift was 10k+ lbs) but they are still sending me new parts free no questions asked(still waiting on them though).

ive also have a few buddys with winches around 20 years old still working flawlessly (never rebuilt/regreased)

spending a little more can go a long way. plus they are made in
