  • Possible future for those of us on 2 wheels.

Visor Down (foremerly TWO Two Wheels Only) published an interesting article about the potential future of motorcycling. Basically Europe might follow France's lead here of putting a ban on all motorcycles over 100bhp. This would essentially put a huge limit on all 1000cc bikes making it useless to buy one. The bikes come with a horribly down tuned ECU that makes the bike "fall on its face" in upper RPM's.

    Ehhh....

Having not affected accident statistics, the EU are putting pressure on France to remove the 100bhp limit, so are we really likely to get it in the UK? It's Politics, it's the EU. The truth is, no-one knows. Least of all me.

Good thing the US isn't in the European Union then.

That would outlaw a lot of 600's too.

My R6 was 123hp. Anything under 100hp would be boring.

Its a move they talked about over here. My 636 would have to be down tuned at 120bhp

Why bother? You can kill yourself on a vespa. Its not the bikes that are the problem.

Same concept with firearms. You can kill someone with an air rifle yet handguns and long arms are consistently restricted because "guns kill people."

Thank you. Apparently our friend James does not yet realize that it is not those common citizens or the enthusiasts with common sense that make the laws, but instead our out of touch politicians who have shoved the phrase 'do it for the children' so far down our throats that it is the reason some of us get our appendix removed.
