  • So, I drove home in front wheel drive today...

Twisted my rear shaft on the same rock face that has eaten two of my exhausts, and now a drive shaft. Got out of mabell with no issues but it was pretty interesting driving in front wheel home. As soon as I got on the road something was quickly popping every minute or so, and the tranny was popping out of gear here and there. Got on the highway and the same thing went on for a bit until something just started slipping/grinding under any real power. I dont know how the tcase is built, but it sounded like teeth slipping on the front drive shaft. I think the slipping must have been in the tcase because, if memory serves me correctly, the speedo gear is in the tcase and when the slipping happened the speedometer went up to 70-80. Thoughts? I didnt think this would really be an issue, but maybe there was something going on prior that caused it.

the sproket thing that is connected to your front yoke where the power comes from is run on a chain so maybe if it slipped some teeth and spun quickly because of that it registered the incorrect speed...maybe your chain is stretched...

somthing wrong in your t-case for sure. if everything is good you should be able to pulll your rear shaft and drive home in 4hi without issue.(besides the torque steer, although FWD burnout on a jeep makes people go WTF!?)
