What defines "knowing how to drive"

every day on facebook news feed i feel like my intelligence is insulted by people posting "no one knows how to drive" or "people need to learn how to drive" blah blah

What defines someone as knowing how to drive? What qualifications does a person who "knows how to drive" have?

It comes down to common sense and a get the fuck out of the way attitude.

My biggest thing is people going slow in the fast lane. If someone comes up on my ass i move over, as should everyone on the road. It should be common knowledge not to pull out into the 3rd lane at 60 mph to pass someone doing 50 mph when there is traffic in the 3rd lane. As everyone should know the 3rd lane rule, do 80 or GTFO.

Distracted drivers are bad drivers too, i actually love the cell phone law. Concentrate on the road.

Bad driving is really just a lack of paying attention to your surrondings on the road, because of this you put other people at risk.

Obeyed speed limits doesn't constitute bad driving also, only where it occurs. Do the speed limit in the first two lanes, not the 3rd. lol. /end rant.

my biggest pet peeve:

on my way home from work each night, i have to cross an intersection. at the light, there are 4 lanes:

1 left turn, 1 straight, 2 right turn

every single day, without a doubt, someone is in the 1st right turn lane and goes straight, almost hitting me and whoever else is in the correct lane.

that makes me mad. especially because the lanes have arrows in them, and the traffic light has signs indicating which way to go.

what makes a good/bad driver to me is a couple things.
First and foremost, common courtesy. Use you DAMN BLINKER. people are not mind readers, and dont know what you are doing when you stop in the middle of the road.
Second, basic rules of the road. Passing/travel/slow lane is the perfect example. Everone and their mother has some hard on about driving in the left lane. Its usually next to a car going the same speed so I cant pass them.
This is true for 2 or 3+ lanes of travel. Get out of the way!
Then of course the other basic rules of the road, stay in your lane, turn your high beams off when you driving towards me etc.
I dont care if you drive fast/slow, whatever, if you are in your lane, keeping proper control of the vehicle and obaying the normal rules of the road with a little courtesy, your fine to me.
