Probably used to prosecute child molesters, rapists etc. That way, the person maybe didnt have actual sex with them, but they can still be put in jail. Just a guess.

Good guess,, though it's far more archaic than that. Laws like that have existed for hundreds of years. The poet Oscar Wilde was jailed for acts of sodomy in the 1800s and back then, laws like that were created because of the Church. If you notice, most of the states that have kept those laws are rich with Southern Baptists, other devout Christians and extreme conservatives, those who want to police your sexual life because it disgraces God. Modern Society has evolved faster than those laws can be taken off the books, but as Nick said, they might just be kept around to jail child molesters and rapists.
