computer help pwease

i'm tryin to hook up my home theatre to my computer. i got the red and white rca's going into a plug converter that plugs into the computer sound output. i have it set at normal surround and i only get sound outta the sub and center channel. i'm guessing that the plug converter for the computer makes only one side of the speakers work. is there any way to change my output from the computer to mono from stereo? i cant find the place.

nvm the problems in my receiver . . . how could it blow the f up just sitting around. i last used it a year ago and now its deciding that the surround output doesn't wanna work. all the other types work tho
