lets not forget about the modified builds either
Poision spyders
in my opinion... completely bending the rules and idk where the hell they are going to put factory framerails (class rule)..... cuz as of now, its a full tube chassisOriginally posted by Ktmracer419some people choose video games

i dont like the concept of the modified class at all to be honest, but its all money/a business move in the end most likely, which is totally fine and makes sense. its too close to unlimited where it just muddies the field. though i would probably think otherwise if i had an "in between" rig that fits it
i also dont think axles should be 100% open in the stock class. you can run a currie 9" or a rockjock setup blah blah built to the hills on your stock XJ, but the fact I have two 2" holes in my floor in the back with 10" travel shocks (no travel advantage over normal) disqualifies my xj from participating- Will

The rules deff need some work.
My opinion on modified class is this:
Basically a budgeted version of an Unlimited car.....
-Unlimited axles, transfer case, steering, travel, shocks, tires, etc.
-ENFORCE the frame rail rule........ Motor mounts to passenger compartment
-must have a VIN number, grill, hood, front clip similarly resembling the OEM vehicle.
- Allow Dovetailing
- Place most of the major limits in the engine. As with any race cars these are the most expensive part ( like in most small NASCAR series, ex: Late Models vs. Limited Late Models; big difference in money)
Limit the horsepower, fuel consumption rate (pump sizes, line sizes, injector sizes), displacement, rules against forced induction above a certain horsepower.
Basically take away the $30-40k the heavy hitters are spending on engines. And then it becomes an average joe class, where someone with a junkyard motor on upgraded junkyard axles that has spent alot of time and money directed towards chassis design and a good suspension can be competitive within.
One can build a competitive modified truck for $20-35k total.
Right now, with room to spare the budget for my buggy still stands at $17k. With the bling in the right place, but a relatively stock engine/trans.Last edited by Zullock Holmes; 12-20-2011, 07:58 PM.No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.
