  • Basic paint/body work

So Nicole and I found an Overland super locally, the price is great and the mileage is good. The thing is in great shape in and out except for a few minor blemishes spread around, pictured below. Could anyone skilled/experience in paint/body work give a little insight into the best way to remedy these few things? We are going to try and get the dealer to take care of it before purchase if we move forward, but if that becomes a struggle I'd like to know how to take care of it myself, or find someone who could give us a hand

A few what I assume to be pebble strikes where the paint was chipped in a small spot and theres a tiny rust spot. The front bumper is marked up by road debris, and the rear has a section of paint that was rubbed off. bumpers are both obviously plastic.

Rust blemish rock strikes/whatever (sand away and apply touch up paint?)

Tape off the windows, door handles, grille and anything else you don't want painted and spray it Emerald Pearl

To do it properly, you'd want to clear coat it as well, I'd think. Touch-up paint is a single-stage versus the IDFK-how-many-stages factory paint. Worth a shot on one of the small ones for experimentation.

If nothing else I would try to get them to do the bumper. The front bumper is liveable and the others I would wet sand the rust and the pit to make it more uniformed, touch up paint it, wet sand, compound, and buff if you are that worried about it.

Those chips/blemishes are common/mild for most veicles over 4 years old, honestly I would get the Factory touchup paint and just hit those areas, let dry and put a good coat of some quality wax on it and call it a day. if you get into painting a vehicle of that age you'll have to factory in fade snd all and then, you have that part of the vehicle looking better than the rest. just my 2 cents being that I was a a profeshional detailer for a few years.

oh and as long as the "scuff" isn't through the clearcoat you're good to as far as buffing and wet sanding goes!

i would legit just do some good touch up from the dealership, its gonna cost you a fourtune to re sparay those those the spots. buff the rest of the vehicle up and you should be tits.
