  • Where were you?

Ten years ago. Where were you?

I was in 8th grade social studies class when our professor came in crying and turned on the TV.

6th grade. english class 4th period. remember everything about the day, the prinicipal came over the intercom and basically told us that there had been an attack, but didn't explain too much.

Then as the day progressed there were kids getting called to the office literally nonstop cause their parents were coming to pick them up from school. As the day went on we started to kinda realize how serious it was, they wouldn't let us watch the tv's and sent everyone to their homerooms for the last 2 periods of the day.

Our homeroom teacher said, "this is a day you will never forget for the rest of our lives" and it still amazes me that even though i was 11 years old, i remember every detail of that day.

I got off the bus and when i came in the house my mom was sitting on the couch crying, thats when i finally got to see what had happened cause the TV was on.

I remember the day we started the Shock and Awe bombing campaign too, it was a saturday morning we were out in the yard and my grandma came to the window yelling "we're bombing the bastards!"

and we all went inside and watched the news coverage of that.
No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

I was walking around UMass wondering why classes were cancelled and why everyone was packed into the student center around the TV's, took the bus home and got a aphone call from my girlfriend who was in Austraila at the time in hysterics, thought she was kidding and only got the spanish channel at my house so took a while to realize what was going on

I was at ccsu in class. Teacher came in and said what happened, we found a TV to watch it. Saw the second hit and thought it was a computer animation. They closed the school and driving home I was listening to 106.9 in complete awe. I remember for the next few weeks people were different, nice to everybody and just pround to be American.

4th grade, couldn't really fully grasp the idea of what was happening at that age but over the weeks after it was explained to me by my parents. i remember sitting in the classroom wondering was what happening and being nervous then going home and watching the coverage with my mom.

odd how it stays with you after 10 years and at such a young age....

9th grade, machine shop exploratory. I went to a tech school.

They announced it over the intercoms for everyone to turn on the TVs. Then announced all schools were canceled and all the kids cheered and I remember my older brother wanting to kill everyone that was cheering.

5th grade and my teacher tried to hook the TV up as the principle came in and told him not to, to avoid panic...just as zullo said, parents were calling all their kids out and when i got home my mom was on the couch watching the news aswell crying...my dad was working and was clueless till he came home as to what happened.

Working for one of the agency's a few miles up the road from the pentagon. I was walking to my lab with a computer on my shoulder and there was a tv in the hallway by the elevators with a crowd around it. so i sat there wondering what was going on then i saw the second plane hit. Went up to my office and several people were collapsed in disbelief at what was going on, and that they had loved ones in the towers. Then they hit the pentagon and were told to get the hell out of the building and area. When i pulled out of the compound i could see the Smoke from the pentagon and thats when it really hit home.

After a few days/weeks, i dont remember which but after some investigation several of the terrorists lived up the street in townhomes from work. i wasnt allowed to go back to work for several days after that.

Sadly, every day i go into work prepared for it to be my last. I hate working where i work, its such a huge fucking target.
