Who Are the People Who Refuse to Evacuate for Killer Storms?
First, a large percentage of people will resist believing that a rare and highly dramatic event could actually be unfolding in their normal, everyday lives.
Another group likely to stay behind during Hurricane Irene, when officials are urging evacuations, are those who have had reason in the past to distrust authority figures.
Yet a third group more likely to stay behind in a dangerous hurricane are depressed people who consciously or unconsciously want to be swept away by a flood.
Finally, among those who will cling to their homes as Hurricane Irene roars ashore will be those who have “heard it all before.”
So, as the storm hits the East Coast this weekend and you look upon a woman unlucky enough to be standing atop her roof, ankle deep in water (after resisting calls to evacuate), you should know that it is no accident that she is perched there. -- Her entire life story will have led her to that very spot, at that very moment.Last edited by justtorchit; 08-26-2011, 11:44 AM.Originally posted by Ktmracer419some people choose video games

Cabelas sold out of nearly 400 generators, almost all of their coleman grills and propane lanterns. My mother and friend that work their part time in maintenance were ordered to board up windows by the boat shop in case people start looting but they only wanted the plywood attached with 4 nails or screws per sheet and only 2 pieces high.Last edited by Pat; 08-26-2011, 01:34 PM.
