  • DSLR Camera ????

What do you guys recommend for a DSLR Camera for like a novice.
I don't know anything about them.

    My wife really wants one.
we are just looking for a good camera take fast pictures, and good zoom change lenses, etc.

The regular point an shoot cameras take to long in between pictures.

I don't need anything to fancy I will never use all the options.
I wouldn't mind a refurbished or even a used one from someone I trust.

something drop resistant would be nice I don't know if they make anything like that.

Or at least what to what to avoid.

    Thanks
    ~Justin

    buy canon or nikon

any of their entry level DSLRs will suit your needs..previous generation even.

get a kit lens with it (most come with one) and if you want a good zoom as well youre going to have to buy another telephoto lens, unless you wanna drop around 500 on a lens that does both wide and zoom

canon t2i or rebel XS, nikon d3000, d5000...just to start you off

as far as durable you get what you pay for...entry/cheaper models will have a plastic body and not be truly weather sealed...more expensive pro bodies will have metal construction and weather sealing

For FAR more info on cameras than you could ever want or need, check out www.kenrockwell.com He has done countless reviews on all sorts of equipment and gives real world advice.

Personally I loved the D3100 that Michelle bought... took some awesome pics. It should serve you well for most purposes and isnt horribly expensive.

The reviews seem pretty positive on the D3100

i'll second that i have this camera and after i found out that my case was tweaked from the factory it let moisture in. but since then i have put it through hell its covered in dust from line mountain and the crawl comps. it got wet yesterday and works fine. i would recomend it. if you read the manual it is very easy

D70 camera body, few batteries, charger, memory card and 2 lenses. It's not as new as the 3100, but it's just as good.
