nope it's settled, they suck. It's not like you can change the wheelbase or anything, or swap a different motor in. It's impossible!

That's not a fucking Samurai anymore. That's like building a tube buggy and putting a XJ grill on it and getting all bent out of shape when people don't call it 'The XJ'.

You can do what you just pictures with every vehicle, so why doesn't Dillon just do it to his XJ? You can stretch the wheelbase on any vehicle, put a cage on any vehicle and put different axles under any vehicle, but then it is no longer that same vehicle anymore. Yeah, if you tube out a Samurai and stretch the wheel base to 101.4", put some better axles in, how is it any different than starting off with an XJ?

It's different from starting off with an XJ because it's not a fuckin xj. It's smaller, lighter and more manuverable. I'm just trying to give a different opinion on this shit. I think a built sami could be cool.

FWIW, i see your side of the argument, but this in specific is weak.

"Doing tons" is a lot different than swapping a completely new motor/drivetrain, stretching the wheelbase substantially, AND completely tubing a major portion of the rig out (which is what I think Phil put very loosely with "add a cage").

I dont like samis mainly because I think they are ugly, impractical for anything beyond just being a basic wheeling toy (camping, utilitarian uses, so on) and the engine is gutless, gearing is cool for crawlin, but doesnt change the fact its gutless on a highway. A trailered sami built to the teeth for crawling will probably make a mockery of my XJ in the rocks, however thats about all it will do.

Just an opinion, nothing more nothing less. I guess I just dont dig really SWB vehicles (thats right, CJs included)

With that said, the only Sami I like is the one Danas friend had, the green one.

I just don't see the facination with dumping money into making something work when he already has something that works and that with less money, can be made into something better.

If you want to build the Samurai, go for it, but don't get asshurt because we think they suck. You wanted our opinion and we gave it to you. Also, I'm not a Jeep whore, I just have jeeps because they are cheap and they work. I think Toyota Tacomas are fucking badass, but they also have a much better stock wheel base than the Samurai, with or without the front SAS.

Not butthurt at all, legit just want opinions.

Either way it will be made into something, whether that's a buggy type truck or just a DD, we shall see. My nissan cannibalized its belts today on my pops so id like something else to drive.

My jeep is great, needs work but its great. Just need funds to get it to where I want it.
