  • Hey Phil/Gun experts

This gun has been sitting in my garage for as long as I can remember. Can you tell me what it is? It is pretty damn old and not in the best shape. There is a bullet jammed in the barrel I believe. I looked for markings but didnt find anything. Is it possibly worth anything?

    Early 1900's springfield
If you cleaned it up a bit it might be worth a little.

          yup

I just did some more research and it looks like a Japanese T99 or 38 some sort of variant. It has a lot of similarities yet a few differences. Def WWII looking. Kinda wish i could find a few markings on it! Apparently some Japanese rifles were used by Americans and were converted to fit a .30-06 shell.

I think subtle differences would be acceptable, its an old gun that was produced over many years.
Another gun that looks very similar is the M1892 Krag or the Arisaka type 38.

Arisaka on the bottom looks very close.
EDIT: I think we have a winner. Id figuratively bet money on Arisaka.
Edit 2: Arisaka and t99 are the one in the same. Your right

Yup! that was my final verdict when I gave up the search. it looked so similar i figured it had to be a winner or a very close cousin

get some bore solvent and pore some into the barrel and let it sit for a while, polish that thing up to with some oils !

Dont clean it! All the Pawn shop and antique road show guys always say guns are worth more with the original patina.

Except I can tell it's missing parts and it's current condition is beyond abysmal.

If you want, clean it up and hang it on your wall, but I wouldn't try and sell it unless you want some beer money.
