so i have the opportunity to get a new xj. 99, 4.0 AW4, 205k. the person i'd be getting it from is asking 1500 for it or trade my mustang for it. now what i need help with is deciding what route to take. i can either keep the mustang as a DD during the summer (would need a new fuel pump) and try to save up for a bit and buy the jeep outright and eventually swap over my lift and other goodies. either way i'd be getting rid of my current POS xj because it's going to start costing me a lot more to keep it running. what are your thoughts on this?

    here's what it looks like
    13
Trade mustang for xj and have the jeep as a DD
    46.15%
    6
Buy xj and keep mustang for a summer DD
    53.85%

i'd be getting it through my parents mechanic so he might hold it for a bit, but i'm not sure how long it will take a broke college kid

I think the mustang is worth more than that. I looked on autoo trader and the lowest i saw was 1300 but there were a lot for 2-3 grand. I would try to sell it and buy the cherokee.
IMO no point in keeping a 97 mustang, especially a v6

I was thinking on seeing if I could cut a deal and have him install my lift because I just don't have the time between work and school to have it ready by OER

having a jeep for a daily driver is awesome in some respects and blows in others.

the 4WD gets me everywhere esp this winter, but to work and back home is 70 miles; to work to school to home is 103 miles....... with gas on the rise... it's a painful daily driver. and i almost never do below 75 on a highway so i basically put about $80-100 a week into that gas tank
No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

trade, because 1. 4x4 is more useful in the NE
                        2.mustang with a V6 has no retail
3 you can run your currant XJ until it completely dies and part out whatevers left of it!

Keep new xj stock and wheel the piss out of the other one.
