  • Does anyone else get too attached to things?

I am sitting here, about to make a major upgrade in camera systems...and I have already decided I am keeping my original HD camera instead of selling to offset costs. Not just because it would be beneficial to have two cameras....but just because I am a sentimental bastard

The camera that started it all, which allowed me to get to the place I am now...I could never sell it. Its been a workhorse to say the least, and an extension of myself.

Same exact thing with my Jeep, it has too much history for me to EVER part with it.

I find myself thinking this way a lot about different things...am i a minority with this?

I already told my Father I was going to be buried in my Jeep with my Kimber 1911 at my side.

Some things have sentimental value, some things can be sold and easily replaced later on down the road. It all depends on how much you've grown attached to it by use.

There is somethings i would like to keep but i think everything has a price. The stuff you want to keep you may have an unrealistic price for but if someone offered it to you i think most would sell it. There have been things i have kicked myself for selling in the past

Nah not a minority in it at all. Especially since HMC is your dream job and youve worked hard to get there. I go overboard though and have had to part with some things for fear of the guys from American Pickers showing up at my house one day lol ok not that extreme but still

cue semi-sentimental post. i am the definition of getting "too attached", especially when it comes to things that bring back old memories. i've learned all to well that everything is constantly changing, people are always leaving, and you never know what's going to happen next.

i say its worth it to hold on to things that have even the slightest meaning to you... guess that's why my room is such a disaster with things i can't part with!

Depends on what it is. I really don't think I save a lot stuff. but I really don't have anything worth saving. When I was 8 I made a wooden Thompson sub machine gun, cause I loved WWII stuff, I still have it but I threw out all the other toy guns i tried to make. Every thing does have a price of course. I don't plan on ever selling my jeep just because I would lose money, not because I bought it with my own money 3 days after I got my licences for my first vehicle.

I do, but i don't.... it depends on the item. there are things like yearbooks, photos, little things that i could never ever part with.

My xj has seen wheeling memories, and pretty much every memory of high school life involves that thing, driving around with my ex, tailgating, partying out of that thing at the beach, parties in the woods. That jeep has seen soooooo much of my life, good and bad. The worst memories and the best, now i keep thinking of selling it or parting it out to help pay for my new rig and it's honestly going to be soooo hard to part with that thing. I could never imagine anyone else owning it.

I think though, that exceptions can be made when it comes to moving on to bigger and better though.
No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

I think I do to cars. I get very defensive about my Jeep since I have put a lot of money into it and was my biggest purchase so far in my life other than the wife's wedding and engagement ring. I also am very regretful that I never finished my e28 restoral when I had all the goods sitting between the two cars. Now I have no clue where they are of if they are still on the road.

I get attached to all my shitbox trucks/jeeps. I buy em planning to beat them into the ground, and then I get all attached and whatnot. It was hard scrapping my first one. I lost my virginity to that jeep... Uhhhh i mean in that jeep.
