    Okay..

I don't know what the hell i'm doing anymore.. I mean, I didn't to begin with, but now i'm terribly stressed trying to figure all this bullshit out. My jeeps are full of suck.

    1996:
    189,xxx
    Leaking tranny fluid. (from seal)
    Bad Starter.
    Belt makes funny noise.
    Needs TLC underneath. (brake lines)
    --
    Already lifted
Wouldn't mind if it ended up looking like Phil's jeep.
    Old Body Style

    -------------------------
    2001:
    Too nice to roll.
Would have to reinstall entire lift kit, pLus SYE.......
Engine just lacks power compared to 1996.
Wasn't taken the best care of compared to '96.
    --
    96,xxx
Don't have to worry about death to jeep due to miles.
Wouldn't lose money having to sell it...

    -------------------------

I realize it would be ridiculous to sell the '96 especially knowing the '01 is so lame, with hinges, and less power, and blah blah blah. Having to re-do an entire lift would be pretty much the worst thing ever, but it would be warmer now...
I could drive the 01 as a DD without having to worry about if it will start the next day. Lifted too...

I realize I dont know how much it will cost to fix said tranny leak, but that's really the main hold up, im having with fixing the 96, and DD it.

    What is everyone's thoughts?
Is it egg nog season yet?

Stop fucking bitching about it and fix the damn 96. Sell the 01 and be done with it.

Dude, drive the 96, drive the 01, you'll notice a huge difference.

do what you want and not what others around you want. Do you really enjoy offroading, or would you be much happier having a reliable car, a honda civic or something that gets good gas mileage and wont break down.

take the time and get the 96 working. if my list was like yours for problems on an average basis for as long as ive had my jeep id be relieved. lol.

of course if it were me id wheel the 01 instead anyway.

i can understand how the 96 can feel like it has more power. dont lose hope. ur giving up too easily, take ur time, get things done right. do your research and try to fix problems urself rather than taking it to a garage. u gotta learn sometime, and most of us have done it through trial and error and making mistakes ourselves.

Mike, I drove a Corolla and had shitty luck too. I can't even get in cars anymore and not feel like a bitch. I just don't have great luck, and my mechanic skills are less than ideal.
I suppose I can just rock the 96, because everything can be replaced eventually *cough* Dan Joyal. *cough*

Also, I'm just seeing what others would do. Not necessarily looking for them to command me.

hah, I sold the corolla before I bought the 01, the 01 is fine...perfect running order.
Im debating on if I should just get a new *used* tranny for the 96. I mean, 189,xxx is a lot of miles, giving it's not the highest around but it's not a new jeep...
Starter i'll replace monday morning. Seems simple enough.

Gonna skip driving to the RCroks, and try to make it for summer runs that we may have.

Okay, heres a solution. Ask someone for help and fix the tranny leak. A starter takes a whopping 10 minute a jeep with less than a hanful of tools.

And if you've already installed a lift you should know how to do it. There isn't any guesswork in what it takes to do what maneuver and 99% of your bolts won't be rusted and you won't have half the bullshit to deal with like broken bolts and the rest of the headaches.

I wish I wheeled as much as you break stuff.

I think that if the '01 is more reliable just keep it and sell off the 96' after swapping the hp over. Do you really plan on rolling? If the hinges are an issue for you then either don't do doorless or weld the pins. Where you get the less power thing from?

i would say fix the 96 and keep it and wheel it. sell the 01 cuz you can get decent money for it. that money can go into fixing the 96/other wheelin parts

my vote is to fix the 96, and sell the 01... Which seal is leaking on the tranny? front or rear seal?
