why would you run an axle if you have seen 10000000s of them break? you need to visit freds garage for a lesson

I agree with Mr. Heavymetal in the upgrade before you break and inconvenience others. Its just a huge hassle if you run something til it breaks imo and Dana 35s are very prone to break in any kind of stress situation. I ran my 35 with 31" Procomps (damn 4 for the price of 3 deal) and had no problems but I was always apprehensive wheeling it hard.

Hell I don't trust my 44 because I am a retard on the skinny pedal and try to KOH through shit which leads to blown front and rear ring gears (ya thats a fun day). So after all this babble Mr. Mythical Recumbent Feline run it, I am just glad i wont have to sit on the side of the trail when ya break it.

Its kinda one of those things where you upgrade it before it breaks. Overbuilding isn't a bad thing.

This thread is right up there with the "my stock XJ steering will never break"

            No, thats not a compliment

yup..... alright ..... mhhmm... i get the point and always have... so if you go offroading with someone who doesent have the best tires, and they pop one, you wont help them? i think that would go under the douschbag category... See, im under the bus right now because I started a poll... and STILL never said they wont break and i KNOW they are weak.

Who said anything about refusing to help people? The best tires? None of this parallels anything anyones saying.

We all help anyone out on the trail...we'd help you without thinking twice. however i think its pretty dumb to set a jeep up to "run til it breaks" if you know you have a subpar component that is a ticking time bomb. Dont you?

As Andrew said we have one in our TJ on 31" AT's. It hasnt broken yet during very mild offroad use, easy plowing, and around town driving with a 3 horsepower 4 banger. Have I seen one break? No. Have I seen pictures/heard stories/learned to not ever wheel one? yes. I bet the reason I have never seen one break in person is because nobody I wheel with runs one.

Absolutely. I'm sure you would help anyone, i've seen and met so many nice people on this forum. I have always planned on upgrading my axle and have talked to hux many times about different options I have. I guess it bugged me when I posted something about me getting a free LSD D35 and wanted to put it in when someone posted something about me not putting it in. You are all right about saying it is weak, and potentially a ticking time bomb, but I am not going to upgrade by the snap of someones fingers to a d44 or a 8.25....

Jussayin, I sold Andrews 8.25 29 Spline with an LSD for 150 bucks. You can get an open one for 100 all day. Million x stronger than a 35

certainly not up to any of us what you choose to run, but people here like giving their advice to try and help out a fellow wheeler in making the right decisions to build their jeep the best they can

a lot of us have been around d35s turning rigs into trail ornaments for a few hours, and we have learned from our experiences. (both first hand and second hand)

8.25s are not expensive by any means. (29 spliners go for $100-125 complete all day long) and are WAY stronger than a d35 in every single way. Just something to consider. It isnt a big jump and is just as easy to install as a 35. and are plentiful
