If only jeep marketed stuff like this or that Gladiator pickup with the diesel, they might have good sales again like the XJ and TJ days. They are trying to appeal to a much larger market with the small "crossovers". When people think about Jeep they think "Off Road", "4-wheel drive", "free spirit", not crossover. My friends mom got a patriot and I rode in it once. Basically felt like riding in a civic, just higher off the ground.

uhm, have you seen the new commercials? I don't see any crossover vehicles advertising their skid packages, or water fording ability, or anything else offroad. I have never once thought of the new grand as a crossover

I agree the new commercials are an improvement. The dealership in the next town over from me has about 5 JK Wranglers, a few new Grands, some WKs, and the rest are compasses and patriots. When my dad sold his WJ he went to the dealership looking at WK Grands. He asked about adding a hitch, skidplates, etc and they told him he would be better off buying a truck not a jeep.

Yea the WK's weren't as Jeepish, but the new ones are no slouches. I work for Enterprise and we have the new grand's, JK's, WK's, patriots, compasses, commanders, all the above. One perk of the job is that I get to test drive a crap ton of cars. The new grand is an incredible improvement and is one of the nicest SUV's I have driven. The base models are kind of lame without 4low or any 4x4 selection, but the limited's with the selec-terrain are very cool and much more luxurious with the leather, nav, etc.
