    Mainly because of Crash ratings. People no longer think stamped sheet metal fenders and unibodies are good enough. Everything has to be a massive, bulbous crumple zone.

      its funny though how u say that when almost all bumpers have gone plastic.

      When i got rear ended on 95, my xj was fine, broken taillight and a dented bumper, the scion tc that hit me on the other hand, motor in the passenger seat was an understatement. IMO xj's were incredibly crash safe, fuck nick barrel rolled his at 70 mph and slid on the roof, then walked away with just a scratch.

      also there is no way a smart car is safer than an xj.
      No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

          I honestly would be happy if they threw solid axles under the patriot and maybe a manlier engine than that baby 4 that's in it now.
          01 XJ 3" on 33's and some new paint n stuff. Gone.
