Computer went poop.

My computer decided to eat itself and bluescreen every time it booted. Somehow this escalated into a constant boot-bluescreen-reboot cycle. I turned it off and rebooted it, and it automatically ran Windows setup. However, every time I try and let it recover itself, whether to just first partition, reformat to one, or even reformat to two partitions, it stalls at 89% and I get a giant Error message with no information and it freezes like that. It's an Asus G50 notebook, so I still have the secondary "mini-OS" to work with, but I can't really do much other than surf the internet. Does anyone know if I can fix my computer myself or whether I need to bring it somewhere? It didn't come with an OS disk for Vista, so I can't really do it myself unless one of you computer peeps knows something I don't.


And no, the answer to fixing it is NOT "Buy a Mac" because I'm not going to spend an arm and a leg on a new laptop when this one's less than a year old. Plus I hate Mac's OS.

I have had this happen numerous times. You need to re-install your OS. If you dont have a disc, download it from thepiratebay, I lost my install disc and just downloaded another copy and it's been fine for a while now.

Or if you dont do the torrent thing, just go out an buy a copy of Windows 7 or if you want to cheap out buy a cheapo copy of XP off ebay.

I can't download it on anything else, though. The secondary OS won't let me save anything. Also, this is the only computer I really have access to. My house desktop still runs on WinNT and my mother's laptop is funded through her college. I could get her in some serious trouble if they happened to check her history and see that her computer downloaded stuff from thepiratebay.

Best bet is to buy one then. XP is like 40 bucks and is still a ok OS. Win 7 is like alot more but I like it so far.

no sir, it works flawlessly. as long as you avoid the one update it tries to do, youre golden. even if you dont avoid it and mess up, i have the fix
