This is not good, thought I must say, it is bound to happen. In some of these offroad races, people literally stand next to the track. There are no barriers and there never where. That sucks. Hopefully this teaches people to take a step back once in a while.

I think it's just going to "teach" the uninformed that offroad racing is dangerous and bad.

This sucks and its unfortunate but in a sport like that theres always the risk that it could happen.. Its pretty shitty being that it couldve been preventable and will now give extremely bad publicity to the Offroad world....

people know the dangers, yet we do it anyway. I mean last weekend when we were filming erik miller, there we times i was within 5 feet of his rig when he was tear-assing around turns. Even if we were 50 feet from him, all it takes is a brake line to blow and bam.

Another example, I went to a demo derby last week. Since there were so many people watching, they put them on the track around the pen they were in. However, they lined people up along the one and only opening in the pen so cars can go in and out. during the 3rd heat, someone lost their brakes and went cruising in reverse towards the crowd. The guy slammed it in drive and put it to the floor 10 feet from taking at least 20 people out.
Everyone knows the dangers, we just choose to ignore them. but unfortunately, this could make offroad racing look bad. eventhough spectators get hurt at other sporting events every day

97 TJ that I think is pretty neat.

It's an unfortuneate accident but after reading abpout it sounds more like the spectators own fault. It's the equivalent of baiting a shark and wondering why you got bit.

In reality probably nothing will actually change other than a few ignorant people are gonna think "Gee that off-roading sure is dangerous, there ought to be a law." and that will be that.

A car plowed into a crowd that had gathered to watch an illegal drag race on a suburban road in Accokeek, Maryland, in February 2008, killing eight people and injuring five. The two racers were charged with vehicular manslaughter. Darren Bullock, 22, was sentenced to 15 years in prison; Tavon Taylor, 20, is awaiting trial.

In Chandler, Ariz., in February, a female spectator was killed by a tire that flew off a crashing dragster at Chandler's Firebird International Raceway for the NHRA Arizona Nationals.

In Selmer, Tennessee, a dragster went out of control and smashed into spectators during a fundraising festival in June 2007, killing six people and injuring 22. Driver Troy Critchley, 38, was convicted of misdemeanor reckless assault charges and sentenced to 18 months probation.
Why the fuck is that even in the article?? I fucking hate the liberal Media. I want to drop the reporters into a pool filled with rusted jagged scrap metal and then dump hydrochloric acid on them. I will watch with great satisfaction as they writhe in pain and die a slow agonizing death as the acid slowly eats away at their gaping flesh wounds.

Ban all remotely dangerous activities, problem solved, nobody gets hurt and nobody dies. People arent intelligent enough to decide whether they want to endanger their lives at such events so we just make that decision for them. And if you do get hurt, it is never your own fault, that's why you can sue the driver and or racetrack for letting such an atrocity happen. It really wasnt your fault that you were standing that close to a vehicle moving along at 65mph.

People have no common sense anymore and then rely on the government or people in charge to tell them what to do and what and what isnt safe. On another note, im surprised this happened before in rally racing or baja racing with all the roll overs and how close people are standing
