  • Central CT.... Hey!

    Hi All,

New to the forum. Been running/maintaining a ’92 YJ 4.0L for about six years in the Salmon River Park area of CT. Welding and steel fabrication is my main occupation. I’m looking for a new project… a carb-based 4-cylinder 4wd mini truck (probably metric) to strip down and build up.

I only buy vendor options & extras if I can’t build it myself… part of the fun. My wife wants a disaster preparedness or ‘Bug-Out’ vehicle (high mpg, food, water, gas & medical storage on board). It sounds like a fun one to build and it’s always nice when the Better Half is behind the project.

I’ll probably stalk around here more than post… rather stare at a dashboard than a keyboard… know what I mean?

I put a new muffler in the YJ on Saturday. It went smoother than I anticipated... killed my old compressor and had to buy a new one. I found a Craftsman (20 gal., 150psi, horse-and-a-half) unit with wheels on-sale for $254.00. It seems to do the job OK.

The next project is the rear springs. The alignment clamps on them have been spread since I've owned it. The rear bumper sits a little below the front. Time for an upgrade.

Didn't right the bike to work today... dumb.
