  • Operation: BACK IN BLACK! 97 xj build

Forget the hearse 'cause I never die
    I got nine lives
    Cat's eyes
Abusin' every one of them and running wild
    old busted

    new hotness

as she sits she has 225k miles
    4.0
    aw4
    np231

hd sye, front shafts at each end
3" lift in front with cheap shocks and 3" tomken lift coils
5" lift in back with edelbrock ias shocks, re bastard packs and 1.5" rro lift shackles.

rubbers are 33" stt's on black d window wheels.

plans you say? I have a couple thoughts on this one both are relatively different paths, but i could always meet somewhere in the middle.

One entails a capable expedition type rig, comfortably drive up north, wheel some relatively hard trails, see some cool shit. built up stock axles. plenty o protection and functional mods.

The other is a comp level rockcrawler, chop top, cage, manly axles, big tarz, lots of dents, will probably be retired in 2 years no matter how good i build it.

well i may be in the market for a new engine soon.

i have what i believe is a faint rod knock. my oil pressure is funky. used to be around 10 at hot idle, hooked up the mechanical guage and it read 40 at hot idle. and now with the factory guage and sending unit it reads 40 at hot idle. might just be a funky sending unit, but regardless i did a compression test just now to see if it might be worth it to throw some rod bearings in there.

      1-125 psi
      2-125 psi
      3-120psi
      4-100psi
      5-100psi
      6-90 psi

might throw a cam in the new motor because i always wanted a badass sounding idle . thats the only reason lol. 4.7 stroker if i am feeling ambitious but i doubt it. gonna see how long this motor lasts me regardless.

Has the Jeep been sitting for a while? If so, you might have a stuck ring. Throw some mystery oil down the cylinder, its cheap and might be worth a shot

My Jeep has similar compression numbers but only 2 cyl's are around 100. The rest are like 120-130.
