So for almost a year my fuel gauge has been reading either full or empty no matter how much gas is in the tank. I figured the sending unit was shot and have been holding off on replacing it . Today the check engine light pops up. Code P0462 - Fuel Level Sending Unit Volts Too Low. I looked online and saw this post on Jeep fourm.com and don't want to go through the same thing and waste money since it sounds exactly like my problem...
I was thinking possibly the gauge has gone bad or bad ground connection at the sending unit .
Any idea what the problem may be if it's not the sending unit?
I've got a 99 Grand Cherokee and the fuel gauge fluctuates from full to empty (regardless of how much fuel is actually in the tank). The Trouble Code is P0462: Fuel Level Sending Unit Volts Too Low. I've replaced the in-tank fuel sending unit (along with the fuel pump), but this has not fixed the problem. I'm contemplating replacing the in-dash fuel gauge next even though it still shows movement when doing the dash test (hold down odometer reset button then turn key on).
