    1.5" x 1/4" wall DOM will do u fine
get 7/8 x18 threaded tube inserts...unless youre hellbent on threading the actual tubing for some reason...the common GM ends dont have a common tap/threadpitch

get chevy 1 ton ends....part numbers found:

the only reason i want to thread the tube is because i can;t weld
i can easily match up a die and thread the tubing

you are sticking 1 tons under a jeep, but don't weld?

i would put some money aside for one, it will save you money, and get you free meals from your friends, and it comes in handy for everything jeep related.

pretty sure every tie rod end is tapered.

depends on the size and taper of the original tie rod end holes, you might just be able to ream them out from above, or you may need to drill them out and get inserts

will you clear the leaf springs with otk?

i would really rather get the tube inserts and find someone to weld them for you. would be a super quick welding job and i would trust to more then hand threading tube yourself. i donno thats just my opinion.
