  • Yj heavy misfiring under load

    94 yj 2.5 MTX

my computer went bad a few months ago, i replaced it this week( with the same year, but ATX)

now i have a nearly constant misfire,

the only time it does not misfire is if i slowly push the throttle, if i do it too fast it will misfire,

also sometimes it misfires at idle, sometimes is doesn't.

    Ive tried-

    swapping cap, rotor , wires
    Crank sensor

(also i just put a new sending unit and pump in it yesterday, with no change )

the TPS reads 3.76v max throttle and 0.67v at closed
the voltage transition from closed to WOT is clean
    injector pulse looks good also

im thinking about checking IAT and Coolant Temp, i have spares around

im wondering if the computer i got is bad....... but im not sure that this is a sympton of a bad computer.

trying to get this fixed before RCQ

    any ideas?

    thanks much

tps was restested and checked out fine, i tried a spare also, check spark plugs, all plugs are the same color, it doesn't look like any one cylinder is the problem, any ideas.... anyone?

started unpluging injectors, and cylinder 2 didnt make anydiffrence, so im assuming a clogged injector, have it off and cleaning it right now

        Captain's log, stardate 41153.7

cleaned and swapped injector positions, no change. turned to the spark plugs.

after close examination of the new quality auto-lite plugs i found a cracked insulator, engaging warp drive - destination AutoZone

Have you tried the ignition coil?
