    What does it do?
    BC now my blinkers don't work and my airbag light is off I'm guessing its the clock spring b about two months ago I pulled a piece of copper out from behind my steering wheeling my air bag light has been on for ages I think I broke it when I put my power steering box in

    Yup. Blinkers dont go through it, but the air bag does, as well as the horn.

        pull yours out and go to the junkyard pull one out of your same era xj and compare the model numbers on the clocking spring. Another problem John and I had was the steering shafts are different diameters on some of them. Just make sure the steering wheel is strait forward when you take the one at the junkyard off and then install it in your jeep with the tires strait forward.

                No, clock spring is only the contact between what is on the wheel that turns, and the column.
